Story
Thanks for visiting my 2025 London Marathon fundraising page!
I'm raising money for SpecialEffect, a charity that helps physically disabled people to play video games.
All too often disability leaves a person isolated. That's why SpecialEffect's mission is to help people to join in and play to the best of their abilities. By using technology ranging from modified controllers to eye-tracking sensors, SpecialEffect can find a way for everyone to feel included, bringing families and friends together and having a profoundly positive impact on quality of life, confidence and rehabilitation.
Some of my earliest memories as a kid are of playing my beloved Game Boy wherever I went. As I got older, games introduced me to new experiences and stories and helped me connect with friends. Today, I actually work in the games industry and play my own role in bringing new games to the market.
Those early experiences meant the world to me, and I believe that no one should feel excluded from the magic that games can offer.
I have seen what SpecialEffect can provide up close, and their work is incredible. They assess a person's needs and adapt technology to harness whatever controlled movement they have. Their support is completely free of charge and is for life, particularly important for when things change and need to be adapted.
SpecialEffect's mission of inclusion extends beyond gaming, whether that’s by using eye-gaze technology to bring communication, independence and hope for people in intensive care units with a severe injury or illness, or by using telepresent robots to reconnect medically isolated children with their education and friends.
Please help me support this amazing charity :)
