Story
St Luke’s is an incredible charity whose strategy, “Helping people to live the life they can”, resonates through their care, support and ethos. Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing palliative care to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Last year the charity supported over 1,000 local people with a huge range of support from end of life care on their wards, to supporting carers, and from helping children cope with grief to helping patients return to work after an illness.
This charity provides all their care for free, so they rely on the generosity and commitment of their supporters to raise more than 80% of their costs. One such fund raising event is the Campo de Santiago trek across Spain in October 2024 which I am immensely proud to be taking part in. Myself and other fundraising trekkers will walk in the footsteps of pilgrims and spend 5 days walking across the hilly landscapes of the Galicia region of Spain in October 2024. All in support of St Luke’s Hospice.
I would be immensely grateful if you could support me, however big or small, with my fund raising pledge to St Luke’s in memory of my wonderful father, Charlie Jones, and amazing brother, Alan Jones, who both lost their lives to terminal diseases, and also to my dear friend, Chris Hornby, who recently spent his last days at St. Luke’s. His devoted wife, Marcia, could not thank the hospice enough for their care and dedication to Chris and the family to ensure his last days were spent compassionately. My dear friend Lisa’s mum Bessie Gibson, also spent her last days there and was cared for with such dignity and empathy. It really is a special place ❤️
Thank you, Jaki
