Story
Jake was an amazing, funny, talented, kind person who passed away just before Christmas.
Jake was diagnosed with bowel cancer in May 2021 and was given the all-clear after a short spell of chemo. However, the following year, he was told it had returned. Never one to let his body dictate his life; he carried on as normal, continuing to work, perform, go on trips and even marrying his partner Kirsty in October.
We are asking for donations in lieu of flowers and have chosen the charity Make-A-Wish Foundation UK. As some of you may know, when Jake was younger, he was diagnosed with Leukaemia. During his treatment, we were lucky to have been given the opportunity to fly out to America to visit the Skywalker Ranch in San Francisco.
During the trip, we had a once-in-a-lifetime tour of George Lucas’ house where a lot of his film’s props and memorabilia are kept, as well as a visit to Industrial Light and Magic.
We were, and still are, huge Star Wars fans so you can imagine how exciting and surreal this was. We have fond memories of San Francisco and it is something Jake asked to reminisce about in his last few hours; from holding some of the original Oscars won by the films, to putting some of the character’s helmets on and meeting the teams responsible for bringing the world of Star Wars to life.
We hope that the donations to the charity will enable other children and their families in a similar position to experience the same happiness and memories they gave to us.
