Fundraising for Huntington's Disease Association
Welcome to my TCS London Marathon #TeamHDA fundraising page.
I will be taking part in the 2025 TCS London Marathon to help us support people living with Huntington's disease in England and Wales.
Hello! My name is Jacob, I am a 29 year old Paramedic from Cornwall and I've been given the amazing opportunity (1 of 11 places) to run the London Marathon in 2025 for Huntington Disease Association!
This charity is very close to myself and my family as my Uncle Rogier sadly passed away as a result of Huntingtons Disease in 2020 and they supported us greatly throughout his later life. To make things even more special the London Marathon is taking place on Uncle Rogiers Birthday!
Uncle Rogier lived with Huntingtons Disease for 20 years and always strived to live his life to the fullest. He was a keen traveler in his younger years and I always remember him having a story to tell for any occasion. He also loved reading, all sport especially rugby as well as camping or later caravan holidays. He also worked hard for many years in his career as a psychiatric nurse. But for Rogier nothing could beat family time and spending time together, especially with his wife Donna and son Hal.
The charity has done so much to support my family and provide extra support throughout my uncles journey.
The charity's work is vital to support other families and those living with Huntington's. Their vision is to build a better life for anyone affected by Huntingtons Disease and enable everyone affected to live life to their full potential.
They do this by:
Improving care and support
Educating families and the professionals who work with them
Championing the needs of the Huntington's community by working together
Influencing decision makers to tackle discrimination and secure equity of access to services
Those who know me personally know that I’m not one to run for a bus let alone a marathon! This is going to be both physically and mentally challenging but worth every ounce of blood sweat and tears for this amazing charity.
Whatever you are able to spare will make a huge difference to people with Huntington's and their families and enable the charity to continue doing their exceptional work!
Thank you so much for donating and I'll be sure to share regular updates on my training progress and fundraising events.
