Story

I'm running the 2024 TCS London Marathon with #TeamRetinaUK. Your donations will mean Retina UK can do more of what they do best - supporting people affected by inherited sight loss and funding pioneering research.

The marathon has been something I have aways wanted to do! But I was inspired more than ever this year due to my dad (who is 49), completing the full 26.2 miles in true Brooksy style!

Unfortunately, I did not make the ballot entry - but I was adamant I wanted to compete, due to the emotion and joy it brought not only myself but all my family and friends whilst watching my dad complete it last year.

Therefore, I will be running for Retina UK! Until a year ago, I did not know a lot about this amazing charity. After starting my new full - time job in recruitment I bonded a strong relationship with my boss/ director. Unfortunately, my boss (Ashley Harrington) has been gradually losing his eyesight for his whole life, but he will not let that stop him - he still trains, runs and even does a bit of boxing with me! He said that this year was his year to complete the marathon, because if not now, when? And if he isn't making excuses - my god I'm in no position to provide any excuses whatsoever!

As most of you will know, I am obsessed with self-development and pushing my body - so I will be spending the next 7 months going all in with this challenge - attempting to complete it anywhere between 3:30 - 4:00 Hours.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated - please come along and support. I hope it will inspire you as much as it did me.

Thank you!
