The JACKSONS are RUNNING for REFUGEES

Derby 10K 2025 · 6 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
As a family we have had the privilege of journeying alongside many refugees as they rebuild their lives in the UK.
We are taking part in the Derby 10K (Andrew) and the 3k Fun Run (Lucy, Aidan and Juniper) to raise funds for Upbeat Communities, a local refugee charity whose mission is to empower refugees to thrive.
You may have heard that I (Andrew) am stepping down from leading Upbeat Communities after 7 years - this is my last fundraising goal whilst I still remain Chief Executive.
You may also remember Lucy broke her ankle in two places a couple of years back, so this is a big thing for her to walk/jog/run for 3K since this injury.
It's also the first run that our kids are taking part in, so please encourage them along with a donation!
Here's a couple of quotes from refugees we have supported at Upbeat, that hopefully will inspire you to give:
“Before Upbeat I was not happy – I was sad. But coming to Upbeat, I met the Upbeat staff and they helped me in the English class, they helped me to apply for college and to get the help I needed from the doctor.
My favourite thing is meeting new people and playing games. Upbeat helped me with everything. I am so happy. People were very kind to me" -Diarko
"Upbeat Communities is a place of hope and support. They welcomed me with a smile and a helping hand. It’s a place where I can make a network, connect with the community, and overcome the culture shock.
Upbeat Communities was a turning point for me in the UK. I learned the art of professionalism—this will help me for my future" - Joseph
