Story
On the 4th December, my Dad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Having been my personal taxi when I was young, and my personal and sporting inspiration for keeping fit and working hard now, and during my international swimming career, this news came at quite a shock.
Fortunately, being fit and active, his prognosis is looking positive, and it is likely that he can receive curative treatment for this.
Despite this however, I want to see in my lifetime, diagnosis and curative action for Prostate cancer becoming available early to every man, reducing the risk of prostate cancer becoming a fatal form of cancer.
As a result, I will be swimming 26.5 miles through January and February, the length of the English channel in aid of prostate cancer UK, and to honour how much of a legend my Dad is. Having not set foot in a pool since retiring from swimming 4 years ago, this isn't going to be easy, however, it is for a great cause and one that has been closely linked not just to my Dad, but to both of my Grandfather's too.
If you are able to, please do support this swim where possible, regular posts will be added to my Facebook and Instagram (@jacksampsonblacksmith) accounts so you can track my progress, and the final swim will take place at the end of February.
Thank you for anything you are able to donate, and together let's tackle cancer head on!
