Story
Hi,
I'm Jack, thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving Page. On the last Boxing Day at our annual Boxing Day Football event I was asked by Graham and Leona whether I would be up for running the London Half Marathon for WAVE Hub. It was a pretty straightforward answer - YES absolutely. I have known of WAVE from the very beginning, quite a few of my family friends are affiliated to the Hub. Every event that I have been to I am always left impressed with how amazing the work the Hub does for people with Learning Disabilities.
For a long time I have been meaning to run a half marathon with the eventual goal of running a full marathon, this seemed like the perfect opportunity. More importantly because I know that I will have an incredible support network throughout the course of the run!
Please see below a more detailed report on what WAVE Hub does:
In Muswell Hill, WAVE Hub reshapes the narrative for those with and without learning disabilities, breaking barriers and fostering a diverse, healthier, and happier society.
Challenge: Society isolates those with learning disabilities. WAVE Hub creates genuine connections, challenging stereotypes.
Impact: From our inclusive café to art sessions and exercise classes, WAVE Hub is a catalyst for life-changing opportunities. Collaboration with local organisations promotes inclusivity.
Heart of WAVE Hub: More than services, we provide shared experiences, challenging prejudices, and fostering belonging.
Contributions Make a Difference:
Inclusive Hub: Weekly café breaking down barriers over healthy lunches
Art and Craft: Fostering creativity for everyone.
Community Activities: exercise and sociable walks.Inclusive evenings for all abilities.
Mixed ability team: work experience for young adults with LD.
