Story
Michelle, Jack and I are fundraising for the Leeds Children's Transplant Team.
Back in August 2022, Jack was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia, a rare and serious condition where the bone marrow can’t make enough blood cells for your body to work normally.
Jack had a bone marrow transplant in November 2022 and spent many weeks in the transplant unit at the Leeds General Infirmary, part of the teenager cancer ward. He received donor bone marrow from a German lady, thanks to the Anthony Nolan charity/registry.
The Leeds Childrens Transplant team played a crucial role in saving Jack's life. We can’t thank them enough for their expertise, dedication, and unwavering support during this journey. Jack is doing well but the journey continues, and he’ll be regularly monitored for some time to ensure his ‘new’ bone marrow operates as it should.
From the 27th July to the 30th July, Jack will be taking part in the British transplant games, which is an annual sporting event celebrating transplant patients and donor families. This year the Games will be held in Coventry.
We’re asking for donations to support the Leeds Childrens Transplant team's attendance at the event, helping to fund things like registration fees, accommodation, transport, kit etc.
Jack will be competing in the games, and Michelle and I will be attempting to run 2.5km; both of us having bad knees!
Thanks in advance for your support.
