Story
By law, children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are entitled to educational support that meets their individual needs. However, many tens of thousands of children and young people with SEND are not getting the education they are legally entitled to.
Outside of the SEND sector, the assumption is that all children receive a suitable education - but this is simply not the case. The SEND system is littered with unlawful decision making by local authorities, leading to families of children with SEND often having to pursue lengthy Tribunal appeals and complaints processes.
This is why IPSEA's work advising families, providing free casework support and ensuring that the rights of children and young people with SEND are upheld is absolutely critical.
To raise money for IPSEA, I'm taking on #Challenge40. I will be completing a challenge that’s all about the number 40 to mark the charity's 40th anniversary. Funds raised through my challenge will help IPSEA to train an estimated 50 new volunteers for their free telephone helplines and Tribunal Support Service through 2023.
Message from Jack:
I want to draw 40 pictures (or make 40 models) to raise money for IPSEA. Please sponsor me and then tell me what your favourite animal is, and I will draw it or make it for you!
I really enjoy school. I have made so many friends and learned so much - so it's not fair that so many children are missing out. I hope sometime in the future this will change and that my sponsorship money can help with this. My Mummy works for IPSEA and tells me what important work they do helping children that need help at school.
P.S. I will sign your picture/model for you too!
I suggest a minimum donation of £1 in return for a picture or model of your favourite animal.
Please tell me what animal you would like in the comments when you make your donation! Do also leave your name with your donation so I know who you are - or send my Mummy or Daddy a message if you would like to leave an anonymous donation.
