Hi everyone,
In July 2020, after a CT scan identified a brain tumour (Rosette Forming Glio-Neuronal Tumour) and hydrocephalus, I was rushed to the UK by JETS (Jersey Emergency Transfer Services) and had emergency surgery at Southampton Hospital. This was an incredibly shocking and unforgettable time for my family and me.
I underwent two surgeries—one for hydrocephalus and one to remove the tumour—and spent two weeks away from family and friends due to COVID-19. After returning home, I had several months of recovery and then gradually returned to work. Since then, I have had annual check-ups, which have all been clear in relation to any re-growth and have recovered well.
However, in late 2024, a scan showed that the tumour is regrowing. This news has taken us by surprise once again. Although the response can be much slower this time, as I am not at immediate risk, it has a different psychological impact on my family and me.
Given our situation, Ell and I have decided to raise some money for the Brain Tumour Charity by giving ourselves a small challenge: walking 40km in Jersey on Sunday 9th March, during Brain Tumour Awareness month.
We hope to raise funds to support this amazing charity, which means so much to us.
We would greatly appreciate any support you can offer, whether it's through donations, raising awareness, or simply offering words of encouragement or prayers.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can provide.
