We Provide Emergency Food Parcels to Help People in Hunger Crisis

Story

2,000,000 Steps Challenge February 2024 – Raising funds for Silklife Foodbank Macclesfield - Charity No. 1110560.

The Why?

Silklife Foodbank was established in December 2010, in response to Macclesfield’s growing need for on-the-spot emergency food boxes. Each food box provides five days of nutritional, non-perishable food for those in our neighbourhood who have fallen on hard times and are temporarily unable to provide for themselves, often through no fault of their own. The Silklife Foodbank work in partnership with local support agencies and frontline care professionals such as Cheshire East, Social Services, Citizens Advice and Peaks & Plains. This ensures that they are able to reach out to most vulnerable and needy people and families in our town who would otherwise go hungry. Silklife Foodbank is run and supported by Silklife Church and is stocked mainly by regular food and financial donations from church members and increasingly through the local community. All parcels are freely given!

The How?

ISL staff and clients at ISL Macclesfield Supported Living service will support each other to take healthy steps each day.

The goal is to record an average of 70,000 steps a day. The entire February 2024 steps sum goal is 2,000,000 steps!

ISL staff and clients will work together on a wide range of healthy activities in the community to achieve this step sum within February 2024. This will range from the athletics track to nature walks and local parks. Pedometers and smart phones will be used to count steps within the team.

Thank you for your generosity.
