Story
On a cold December day, 15-year-old Destiny was found in a terribly poor state with horrific injuries, she had a broken leg that had been left untreated and had fused badly causing a lot of pain, she was riddled with infection and fleas. A kind member of the public happened to find her and immediately rushed her to the vets at Island Vet Care.
Poor Destiny not only had a broken back leg but the tissues from the wound were badly infected and literally dying, her paw had already succumbed to infection and was completely gone, and the remains of her leg was barely hanging on. She couldn’t go to the toilet properly from her injuries. It’s hard to imagine the agony that Destiny was in, if something wasn’t done soon, she simply would not make it. There was nothing left to do but for the vets to operate and try and save this poor girl.
On Christmas Eve what remained of her broken leg was amputated, she spent the entire of the Christmas period in emergency vet care recuperating from her operation and learning to walk again.
Destiny did have a microchip, but it sadly wasn’t up to date after lots of searching we did find her owner but they were no longer able to look after her so Destiny will be up for adoption soon.
The vets were so pleased with Destiny’s recovery that shortly after Christmas they asked if we could take Destiny into our care at Cats Protection. On 28th December Destiny came to the centre to continue her recovery.
Destiny’s medical costs are currently over £1,000. If anybody can help Destiny and cats like her in desperate need, please consider donating to Destiny’s just giving page here.
Anything raised over the cost of Destiny’s veterinary bills and care will be used to care for other cats at the centre.
