Story

Welcome to our Just Giving page.

We intend to raise as much money as humanly possible 🙏 can you help?

We're 6 Wrexham Gogs aka Craig, Gav, Gilbert, Josh, Kyle and Mark, 'The UNSKATEABLES'! Embarking on a challenging adventure to skateboard the length of Wales, Island to Island, Barry Island to Anglesey, 280 miles without stopping!! The challenge will take place on the 1st, 2nd and possibly the 3rd of September, 2023! Our route will be both tough and beautiful in equal measures, taking in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, our fabulous Welsh coastline and Eryri National Park, another area of outstanding beauty.🛹🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The challenge will be in memory of our friends Wayne Phillips and James Rush, who both received support and care from Nightingale House. In addition, the hospice provided memory making support activities for both Wayne and James' young daughters.

Nightingale House Hospice, based in the centre of Wrexham, provides specialist palliative care for those living with life-limiting illnesses, such as advanced cancer, motor neurone disease and chronic heart failure. But they offer a lot more than just medical care.

The hospice has a 12 bed in-patient ward. They provide occupational therapy, music therapy and physiotherapy. There is a hydrotherapy pool and also an ambulance service.

All their services and completely free of charge to patients and their families across the catchment area of Wrexham, Flintshire, East Denbighshire and Barmouth, as well as the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch.

Everybody at the hospice is dedicated to making the last years of someone's life, however long, the most comfortable and full of happiness that they can. They understand the hole which a person can leave within a family when they do go. So, they offer a range of bereavement support too, including a specialist service for children and young adults.

All these much needed services do come at a price to the hospice, costing over £4.5 million a year. They receive 17% statutory contribution towards those running costa but the rest of their income is dependant upon the community and the supporters generosity.

Nightingale House is very much close to our hearts and this challenge will represent our appreciation for the incredible care and support they give to all their patients, families and friends.

Please share this page and our skateboarding adventure with your friends, family, on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and any other social media platforms. The more people who read our story the more money we'll raise. Up the town!
