Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

My name is Isla, I'm a Scottish student in my final year at high school and I have been given the incredible opportunity by Project Trust to take a gap year and spend 8 months volunteering in Youth Development in South Africa, starting in January 2026.

Project Trust is a charity which offers long term international volunteering placements in South America, Asia, and Africa, allowing young people to gain experiences and skills that they wouldn't have the chance to get otherwise. Since they were founded in 1967, over 8000 people have had the chance to go abroad and contribute to communities in 67 countries worldwide.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity, so it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Project Trust is a Scottish-registered educational charity providing young people in the UK and Europe with international volunteering experiences. Project Trust Volunteers are based in projects in Africa, Asia or Latin America for 12 or 8 months supporting teaching or youth development work. Empowering global citizens Project Trust’s aim is to empower generations of young people to act as responsible and active global citizens. We support ethical, long-term volunteering experiences which enable the Volunteers to make a meaningful contribution to their host community whilst building knowledge, skills and cultural intelligence. Project Trust works with a small group of Volunteers each year, allowing the staff team to know each individual’s skills and interests. This allows us to place Volunteers in projects where they can get the most out of the experience and enables our staff to provide tailored support to each young person. Project Trust strives to be open to all young people with the desire, motivation and aptitude required to benefit from a long-term, ethical, volunteering placement
