Renovation Government Home for Disadvantaged Girls In Bangladesh
Sunamganj is one of the most under developed districts in Bangladesh, surrounded by is a
wetland ecosystem in the north eastern part of Bangladesh which physically is a bowl or
saucer shaped shallow depression, also known as a backswamp. During monsoon haors
receive surface runoff water from rivers and canals to become vast stretches of turbulent
water. The lack of resources coupled with natural disasters is among the causes of poverty,
homelessness, stunted growth of children and food insecurity. Among the most vulnerable
are children who are victim of domestic violence, labour along with emotional and physical
abuses.
Government Home for Disadvantaged Girls Sunamganj, Bangladesh was established to accommodate 70 vulnerable girls’ children to provide accommodation and friendly environment for their development. M
ost of them are orphans and from broken family
background with extreme poverty condition. The home is the only place of hope for the
disadvantaged children, especially for orphan girls. However, over the years the building and
living conditions have deteriorated due to lack of resources and requires renovation, bedding
and other essentials to ensure safety and improved living conditions.
