Project Bear
Campaign by The Wildheart Trust (RCN 1171144)
Help us rescue two restaurant bears from Azerbaijan, Balu and Benji, and build them an amazing new enclosure at our Sanctuary and arrange transport to their new forever home (after our sponsored flight devastatingly fell through).

Story

Help Us Rescue Balu & Benji!

Our team are taking on another colossal challenge and pushing themselves to the limit again to raise vital funds for Benji and Balu; the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge is an epic 106km walk.

Brothers Benji and Balu have spent most of their lives trapped on the side of a restaurant, surviving off scraps from the restaurant and customers. Animal welfare standards are low in Azerbaijan with limited enforcement of the few legal protections that exist. Both bears were malnourished and had significant damage to their teeth from bar-biting, a common stress indicator. The damage to Balu’s teeth was so severe that he had to have two teeth extracted upon examination.

Please help us raise vital funds to give Benji and Balu the life they deserve at the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary on the Isle of Wight.
