Story
The Snowdrop Project is a Sheffield-based charity that provides support for survivors of human trafficking. They offer a range of services including casework, life skills support, counselling, community activities, and practical assistance with things like finding employment and accessing healthcare. Their goal is to help survivors rebuild their lives and move towards a brighter future free from their past.
Last year, Snowdrop supported 274 survivors, including 119 children, on their journeys towards recovery – this is more individuals supported in one year than ever before.
Snowdrop’s support forms a holistic package for survivors to help them build brighter futures. Snowdrop’s caseworkers help survivors navigate police investigations, ongoing legal battles, housing, benefits, education & employment. This support is complemented by Snowdrop’s counselling service, which helps survivors process the psychological impact of their experiences. Community activities - including a weekly Toddler Group, sewing classes and cultural celebrations - give survivors the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills and reintegrate into the community in a safe and welcoming environment. Finally, when survivors are provided with permanent accommodation, Snowdrop helps turn a house into a home by enlisting a team of volunteers to paint and furnish the space.
