Story

Join Us in Bringing Vital Medical Care to Refugees in Jordan

The Need:

Syrian and Palestinian refugees living in camps across Jordan are facing unimaginable hardships. In these camps, access to even basic medical care is a luxury. Many refugees suffer from preventable and treatable conditions that worsen every day due to a lack of proper care. Their struggle to survive is compounded by a shortage of medical services, leaving them vulnerable and in desperate need of help.

Our Mission:

From the 1st to the 8th of January 2025, Adail Islam and Qamar Iqbal, along with a dedicated team of optometrists, orthoptists, ophthalmologists, and other medical professionals, will travel to Jordan to provide much-needed medical care to these vulnerable communities. This mission, supported by UK-based charities Global Ehsan Relief and Rivers of Mercy, aims to address the critical healthcare needs of refugees in Palestinian camps near Amman and Syrian camps near Mafraq.

Our Team:

Adail Islam and Qamar Iqbal are two Scottish optometrists with significant experience in international eye care volunteering. Together with other optometrists and eye-care professionals from across the UK who share similar experiences, we have united with a common goal: to provide essential medical support to some of the world’s most traumatised and war-torn populations. Our shared commitment drives us to bring hope and healing to those who need it most.

What We Will Do:

- Ophthalmic Care: Our team will provide free eye exams, spectacles, and eye care treatments. We will also fund cataract surgeries for those in need, giving the gift of sight to individuals who have been living in darkness.

- Medical and Dental Services: In collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, we will offer free medical exams, dental care, and surgeries. We will address both acute and chronic conditions, improving the quality of life for many and, in some cases, ensuring survival.

- Health Education: We will empower refugees with health education and preventive care to help them manage their health long after our mission is complete.

Your Donations at Work:

The cost of flights and accommodation for this mission will be fully covered by myself and my colleagues. This ensures that your money is not wasted, and will go directly to supporting those in need—providing medical supplies, spectacles, medicines, and essential care that these refugees would otherwise not receive.

Make a Difference Today:

This mission is about more than just treating illnesses—it's about restoring hope, dignity, and a sense of normality to those who have lost so much. With your support, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of people who have been forgotten by the world.

Please consider donating today and help us bring hope and healing to those who need it most.

Thank you for your generosity!
