Story
On Tuesday 17th December our wonderful Lucy collapsed whilst walking with friends and went into sudden and unexpected cardiac arrest.
Lucy's friends did an incredible job of doing CPR before the ambulance arrived. She was in Intensive Care over the following 4 days but despite the best efforts of the doctors and nurses, Lucy's brain suffered irreversible brain damage and tests on the Saturday showed that, devastatingly, Lucy's brain had died.
Lucy had signed the organ donor register, and our beautiful girl has gone on to save the lives of others through the gift of organ donation.
We have been very touched and humbled by the many messages we have received from people telling us how much Lucy meant to them and what a kind and caring person she was.
A charity that was close to Lucy's heart is this one "On Track" a day centre run by FitzRoy, a charity supporting people with special needs like her brother Daniel.
Words from FitzRoy….
FitzRoy transforms lives every day by supporting people with learning disabilities to do the simple things that make a really big difference to their everyday lives.
Our values guide us each step of the way and are as important now as when the charity first began.
Our vision is a society where people are treated as equals, regardless of their disability, and our mission is to transform lives by supporting people with learning disabilities to lead the lives they choose.
