Story
Dear lovely friends & family,
On the 8th June I will be running the Salisbury Plain half marathon, and a group of (much braver) others will be running the full marathon. We are raising money for Papyrus.
In January, my partner lost her dear brother Zander by suicide. He was just 20 years old. The loss of Zander has been seismic. He was and is the epitome of what is good in this world; kind, warm, funny, and an incredible friend to so many.
This is probably where words will fail me, because there aren’t any that could explain the grief his family are feeling. But, I hope that with this fundraiser we can not only raise money for Papyrus, but let people know about the work that they do.
Suicide is the main cause of death in young people under 35 in the UK.
Papyrus hopes to change that with their work. Their suicide prevention helpline HOPELINE247 is staffed by trained suicide prevention advisers, who work with young people – and anybody concerned for a young person – to help keep them safe from suicide. HOPELINE247 is a free and confidential call, text and email service, which is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. They also work within communities to deliver effective intervention. Each £5 donation helps someone to make lifesaving contact.
Thank you so much for reading this, and for your support. Please check in on your friends & take care of yourselves.
