RNLI Salcombe Lifeboat Station
Campaign by RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RCN Eng/Wal 209603,SC037736,ROI20003326,IOM1308,Jer14)
The Salcombe Lifeboat Station was established in 1869, today its volunteers operate a 24-hour search and rescue service along the south coast of Devon. To do this they rely on the safest, most reliable lifeboats and modern station to launch from.

Story

This event is taking place the day before my Fathers memorial service so I will be completing it in his memory and he will be in my thoughts throughout. Dad was always so supportive of my challenges, and I know he would have been incredibly supportive of this one too.

As many of you know I was part of a crew taking part in an independent Atlantic row next year. For reasons beyond my control I am no longer taking part in this challenge.

During the year that I was on board so many friends and family showed phenomenal support towards myself and the rest of the crew and I would like to honour that support through this local fundraiser.

With permission from the harbour and support from my fellow RNLI crew members I am planning on running from the lifeboat monument in Kingsbridge to Bowcombe Bridge, swimming to South Sands (approx 4 miles) and then running to the lifeboat monument in Salcombe.

Your support is greatly appreciated. Please read the following as to why it is so important.

Salcombes lifeboat station was established in 1869 and has served the community for over 150 years.

The volunteer lifeboat crew provide a 24-hour search and rescue service 365 days a year, but none of this would be possible without the support of the public and their donations. It costs in the region of £250k a year to run and maintain the service in Salcombe, all of which comes from the generous donations of the public.

Your donation will help to fund the selfless work of our volunteer lifeboat crew in Salcombe, by doing so you will be helping to save lives around our coast and will be providing the best equipment possible to ensure the safety of our volunteers.
