Story
I have been selected to represent England Schools' Swimming Team at the 2nd International Schools Federation (ISF) World School Games, which are being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 19th -27th August 2023.
ESSA is a charity currently without a sponsor, I am therefore looking to raise funds to assist with the costs of the trip to send a Swim team of 20 able bodied athletes and 7 para athletes to the games.
In the current economic climate and with many far more important charitable causes, any donation would be most appreciated and would help make this experience as affordable as possible for all those selected.
My father and I will be hosting a sponsored swim, where we will combine the distance of the all individual and relay Olympic events for female swimmers, meaning we will look to swim a total of 5,550m in one session (222 lengths).
About the Games
The 1st ISF World School Games were in 2021 in Belgrade (Serbia). It brought together 1,849 student athletes from 36 countries competing in 14 different sports.
The games have 3 goals
1. The Sports competition: The best student-athletes will participate in the 2nd ISF games across 22 sports including 3 para sports.
2. The Educational programme:
i) develop leadership skills
ii) raise awareness of United Nations SDG Goal 3 - Good health and well-being
iii) champion the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect
iv) raise awareness on some of the main policies and challenges in sport including gender equality and fair play
3. Cultural exchanges: A cultural exchange programme across the 37 competing countries where we will have the opportunity to experience the culture and heritage of the various nations.
Thank you for reading my page, I will provide an update on our achievements with the results when we return from Rio.
