Story
From 15th-21st September I'll be doing my 777 challenge, running 7 marathons, in 7 days across 7 European cities in aid of teamArchie.
teamArchie was set up in memory of my great friend Archie Lloyd, who, like me and many others, had a passion for sport and the joy it brings to those involved. TeamArchie has continued the legacy Archie left behind, using the unique power of sport to enhance the lives of young people through various projects across the world. Some of my fondest memories of Archie were on the sports field - whether it being him donning our bright pink football kit with the number #9, or clearing the boundaries on the cricket field in the House final - there's no doubt sport can bring the very best out of people.
For this reason I'll be running in aid of teamArchie who will be partnering with two amazing causes: the Alsama Project - which sets up sports and education programmes in the Shatila, Bouri al-Baraineh and Beqaa Valley refugee camps in Lebanon and Football Beyond Borders (FBB) - which works with disadvantaged young people across the UK who are passionate about football but disengaged at school, to help them finish school with the skills and grades to make a successful transition into adulthood.
As some of you may or may not know, Archie tragically passed away after we left school at the end of our interrail trip in Crete. So for my challenge I'll be doing the exact same route we took, running a marathon every 24 hours, in each of the locations we visited together. Catching flights and trains from each city to the next adds an extra element to the challenge (so it's as much a physical challenge as it is a logistical nightmare!)
My first marathon will be in Crete on 15th September - each day after that I'll travel to, and run a marathon in, Athens (16th), Budapest (17th), Prague (18th), Berlin (19th), Amsterdam (20th), with my 7th and final marathon being in London on the 21st September.
Any donations and support, however small, would mean so much - and would go a long way in helping teamArchie champion young lives across the world through the power of sport.
Thank you!
