Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the London Marathon for Deafblind UK

Deafblindness is one of the loneliest conditions in the world - losing both sight and hearing has been described as one of the most challenging experiences a human being can endure! It is estimated that there are currently 400,000 people in the UK who are deafblind. Many people who are deafblind suffer from extreme isolation and loneliness – no one should ever feel lonely! But, sadly for many people who are deafblind, loneliness is a part of every day life. Too many people are forced into isolation day in day out, either because they can’t communicate, or don’t have anyone to communicate to.Deafblind UK offer a range of free services including a dedicated Helpline, trained counsellors, volunteer befriending service, and social groups. They also provide help with assistive technology, heavily subsidised respite breaks and benefit advice. The work of Deafblind UK is vital for ensuring that people who are deafblind can live confidently and independently, showing people that there can be a life beyond deafblindness!
