Story
Folks know me as ‘Yiner’.
I am one of nine local businesspeople who have been put behind bars for Maggie's. I’ve allegedly been caught trying to escape the law after distilling, smuggling and distributing illegal whisky through my own haulage company from a distillery in the remote hills above Loch Ness.
I've been found guilty of being the King of Smugglers and a rascal! I've been locked in a cell in Inverness Town House with bail set at £10,000.
Having traded in my freedom for Maggie's, With only my phone, laptop and my powers of persuasion, the challenge I face is to call on the collective goodwill of my network to raise funds for Maggie's Highlands. My freedom & reputation depend on it!
"We are all affected by Cancer in one way or another, be it ourselves, our family or our friends and Maggie’s provide fantastic support helping people to take back control when cancer turns life upside down. The number of people being diagnosed with cancer is rising and more people are surviving cancer than ever before. This means the nature of cancer care itself needs to adapt and evolve to meet the rapidly changing needs of people living with cancer and in my view Maggie’s Highland desperately needs as much financial support as it can possibly get in order to sustain the brilliant support they currently provide to anybody who needs it."
Maggie's Highlands has approached local business leaders and entrepreneurs and ask if they would be prepared to be locked up for Maggie's. To their delight they agreed, and here we are today. All of the courageous jail birds have been charged with outrageous fictitious crimes and are now in cuffs and behind bars.
Jail or bail is sure to be fun for everyone involved, but let's not forget the important reason behind the event: to raise funds to support people with cancer.
Thank you
Yiner
