Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The Great Glenn Way is an ideal challenge to raise funds for our local Hospice of the Good Shepherd and also to take in the stunning landscape.
The walk is 90 miles over 6 days which allows the extra distance to the overnight accommodation.
From our Edinburgh base we travel by train to Fort William and back again from Inverness at the end. The trip is led by Robb Radford who is a very experienced walk leader.
The first day takes us 15 miles to Spean Bridge which is 3 miles up from the Way and has the least climb. Then comes South Lagan on day 2 after 17 miles. On day 3 we walk the 14 miles to Fort Augustus. The shortest leg on day 4 is 10 miles to Invermoriston. The next leg to Drumnadrochit on day 5 is 15 miles with the most climb of 2,390 ft (728m). The last leg on day 6 is the longest of 19 miles to Inverness with 1,732 ft (527m) of climb. The other sections have climbs of over 1,000 ft (300m) which adds to the challenge.
I have prepared for challenge by walking around Chester for the miles and Delamere Forest for the hills covering 45 to 55 miles per week but you cannot really prepare for this walk other than just doing it.
My last adventure was climbing the 2,900 ft Goat Fell on Arran in 2022. Prior to that many years ago I ran 11 full marathons 6 of which for various charities but now at 76 yrs old I just enjoy my walking.
