Iain and Marion are raising funds in memory of our beautiful daughter Isla who passed away recently aged 14 years. CHAS Rachel House provided wonderful support for respite stays and latterly three weeks of palliative care. We cannot speak highly enough of CHAS staff who made her final days so comfortable and left us with many special memories. They look after the whole family, providing medical support and pastoral care in a people centred, comfortable environment. With fine weather we were able to take Isla out into the garden in her chair and latterly her bed. And help to create lasting momentoes of Isla including fingerprint art. Staff went above and beyond normal expectations to comfort us, keep our spirits up and made Isla's final days as pleasant and memorable as possible.

Previously Isla really enjoyed her respite stays and always returned excited. She loved her "chats" with staff, stories, craft work, the sensory room and just the general brightness and buzz of the building.

There are many children like Isla with complex needs. We would like to see more families benefit from respite breaks away from home, and benefit from end of life care when that time comes around. CHAS relies on fundraising for much of its income so please give generously.
