Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Liz Cooper Clark: I am a Reader in the ministry team at St James with Emmanuel Churches New Brighton. I am walking the El Camino Frances, which is one of the routes of pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela otherwise known as St James Way, which has been walked by pilgrims for over a thousand years. My 500-mile which starts at St Jean Pied de Port on Easter Monday will raise money for the restoration and redevelopment of St James Church to allow more community use and involvement.

St James’ is a Grade ll listed building, so we have no choice but to keep it in good repair. Grade ll listed buildings are subject to regulations which protect their historical and architectural significance.

Our architect and specialist firms of stonemasons have examined the church at close quarters and identified that extensive repair work is needed. We are in the process of putting together a large bid in the region of £5 million to send to the National Lottery Heritage Fund but we will need to raise 10% of the money ourselves.
