Story

In 1987, we sang all 542 hymns in the New English Hymnal – it took over 30 hours, right through the night, and was reported in The Times. We did it again in 2012 and 2017 to raise funds for our new organ. On Saturday March 1st 2025 (from 11am to 7pm) we’re singing 150 hymns to mark 150 years of Bedford Park. We’ve already chosen our Top 100 hymns, with the last 20 now in the running to be nominated our favourite (as determined by your donations to these final Top 20).

We’ll be raising money for our Heritage Conservation Fund to maintain and preserve our beautiful Grade II* listed building. As before, we’ll be supported by choirs and musicians from all over Chiswick. Find out more at https://smaaa.org.uk/hymnathon150/

How to take part:

a) Make a donation saying which hymn you are supporting and why - please give the New English Hymnal hymn number if you know it (within limits, we’re happy to accept other hymns too).

b) Invite friends to sponsor your singing – they can donate on this page or you can pick a form to gather names at the back of church.

c) Follow us on social media: #Hymnathon150

d) Come and sing - all welcome!

NB - The total 'sum raised' also includes 'offline donations' in cash and cheques
