Story
In May 2023, my mother passed away reasonably suddenly at the age of 73 after a short illness from what we thought was a relatively innocuous illness. This came as a great shock to me and the family, particularly my son and daughter with whom she was very close. Following what has been a difficult period for us, I wanted to give myself something to focus on and a target near the anniversary of her death. I managed to get myself a charity place in the London Marathon in April this year!
Running isn’t new to me, having run the Paris marathon twice and several halves and 10K’s over the years. However, it’s been 10 years since I last ran a marathon! I’m also quite a bit heavier and I think I may even be shorter since then… but at least the hair pills are working!
I am trying to complete the race in a reasonably good time, rather than just finish. My ideal goal is to beat my previous best which I set in 2013! I’ll let you know what that is after the race though…or at least beat the average pace for a near-40-year-old ginger male.
As a result of the charity place, I need to raise at least £2k to be able to run. I could really do with your help to reach that goal. I promise I will do the training! And if the running and associated training can’t persuade you to sponsor me, I’m probably going to have to behave during the six nations which is an even bigger challenge…!
I would be very grateful for any sponsorship you could give to help me to achieve my sponsorship goal.
Thanks for reading and hopefully for sponsoring it really does mean a lot!
