Thomas's fundraiser for FitzRoy

Fitzroy Firewalk · 5 April 2025
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all who have donated so far 🙏🏼 Please keep it going🤞🏻
Donate as little or as much as you can afford, or share this with your friends to boost its reach 🚀
This cause resonates deeply with me because I’ve walked a similar road in my own life struggling to trying to fit in. Living with Neurodivergence often feels like navigating a world not built for you—like walking barefoot across burning ground.
I know what it’s like to face challenges without enough support or understanding, and I’ve learned how transformative the right connections and communities can be.
That’s why I’m stepping up to take on the FitzRoy Firewalk on April 5th, to raise funds for this incredible charity. It’s symbolic of the struggles many people supported by FitzRoy face every day, and I’m proud to challenge myself in their honour.
With your help, we can ensure FitzRoy continues its life-changing work. Every donation helps fund the passions and dreams of individuals who deserve so much more than society has historically offered.
Help Me Support FitzRoy and Transform Lives!
More than 60 years ago, the world was a very different place for adults with learning disabilities. Many lived in isolation, ostracised by society, and institutional care was often the only option available—an environment that stripped them of independence, joy, and connection.
But two remarkable parents, Elizabeth FitzRoy and John Williams, imagined a kinder, more inclusive world.
Elizabeth’s son, Michael, had Down’s syndrome, and she dreamed of a life where he could pursue his passions and feel part of a community.
John Williams and his wife were also determined to build a better future for their son, Huw, who had severe learning disabilities.
They didn’t want their children to grow up in institutions. Instead, Elizabeth and John envisioned family-style homes, where people with learning disabilities could live happily and find purpose.
FitzRoy’s mission has grown over the decades, but its core values remain steadfast.
Today, the charity supports over 900 people with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs across more than 100 services in England.
FitzRoy empowers individuals to pursue what matters most to them, whether it’s learning new skills, finding employment, or simply enjoying the little moments that make life meaningful.
Their work is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves to be treated as equals, regardless of their abilities or struggles.
