Story
We are delighted to have been chosen to take part in the Brave/Courage on the Catwalk event. We are so appreciative of the support given by Friends of Anchor that we want to give something back.
2022-2023 was a challenging year for our family. We’d not had time to come to terms with grandma’s sudden passing when we received Uisdean/Hugh’s devastating diagnosis of oesophageal cancer. The next five months were spent preparing for surgery - culminating in four gruelling rounds of chemotherapy. Chemo was successful and surgery was successful! It was an amazing result, and we are so grateful to the wonderful staff in A R I !
Unfortunately the very next day the dreaded letter arrived with the news they’d found anomalies in Ann’s routine breast screening mammogram. What should have been a time of celebration became a time of worry. Uisdean/Hugh had his ‘belt and braces’ chemotherapy, Ann had her surgery and radiotherapy and finally both are now cancer-free.
Friends of Anchor were there for us every step of the way. When we were petrified with fear, they helped us over the threshold. Their well-being gifts and visits to the hospital wards made treatment more bearable. The pioneering research they fund and equipment they purchase are life-saving. We will never be able to repay them.
