Story
Heart Heroes (HH) is committed to supporting children and families in the UK and Wales affected by life-limiting or life-threatening heart conditions. We focus on critically vulnerable children and their families providing a range of specialised activities and events that foster peer support, inclusivity, and emotional well being.
Every day 1 in 100 children are born with Congenital Heart Defects in the UK. Back in Feb 24 Sgt Bryan’s son was born with a Ventricular Septal Defect and an ASD requiring life saving open heart surgery at just 4 months old. Gloucestershire based charity Heart Heroes were fundamental in their journey. Not only do they support families going through the toughest of times inviting them in to a community of other heart parents, they host monthly activities to enable heart children to connect with one another, meaning they never have to face their adversities alone.
Heart Heroes also provide specialised equipment, facilitate transport to essential appointments, and organise well-being activities during lengthy hospital stays or isolation.
For National heart month I will be hosting a bake sale every Monday in February from 08:30 in the main reception area.
If anyone would like to make a cake to contribute to the sale, please inform Sgt Bryan on: Gabrielle.bryan100@mod.gov.uk
