Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are thrilled to share our upcoming adventure with you as we participate in the Horbury Group Virtual Charity Site Walk Challenge, starting on 1st March 2024. Calling in at our live Sites across the UK, with each Team covering 1,346 miles.
As we put our best foot forward and traverse through the length and breadth of the UK, we are driven by a deep sense of purpose. We are fundraising for PACT (Parents Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia), an organization that provides vital support to families facing the unimaginable challenges of childhood cancer.
Our journey begins at head office in Rotherham, as we embark on a remarkable adventure to support a cause close to our hearts. We will traverse the seven hills of Sheffield (BT Sheffield, SHU & West Bar), spreading hope and raising awareness along the way. Our path then leads us to the vibrant city of Leeds (Latitude Blue, Leeds Council, Leonardo Building), where we will make a quick stop before venturing across to the historic city of York (Cocoa Works & Full Sutton). From there, we'll continue our expedition towards the breath-taking East coast, visiting charming towns like Whitby and Scarborough, indulging in some delicious fish and chips.
With determination in our steps, we'll head north to meet the warm-hearted Geordies (Durham Business Park) before crossing over into Scotland (Rob Royston). Our Scottish friends await us with open arms, as we immerse ourselves in their rich culture and breath-taking landscapes. After bidding farewell to William Wallace and Ally McCoist, we'll make our way back down to beautiful North Yorkshire and bustling Leeds.
Our journey doesn't end there; we'll cross over the Pennines into the vibrant Red Rose county of Manchester (First Street, Embankment, Treehouse & T2). A quick visit to Liverpool (Everton FC) will surely add some excitement before returning to Manchester Airport (not for a flight but for further exploration). From there, we'll venture down to the grit and gristle of Birmingham (BHIC & Kent Street), making sure not to linger too long!
Continuing southward towards Gloucestershire (University), we'll elegantly traverse across the country towards The Big Smoke - London. Along the way, we'll take in some iconic sights (LONO1, Alperton, Old Kent Road) and perhaps even have a cuppa with King Charles himself. Our path then leads us up to Luton (Hospital) and Northampton before entering the final leg of our journey.
As we call in on Leicester (Council) and Nottingham (Traffic Street & Huntingdon), anticipation builds as we race towards the finish line. Who will be triumphant? Who will return back to Head Office first?
But this challenge is not just about the physical feat. It's about making a difference in the lives of children battling tumours and leukaemia. That's why we have chosen to fundraise for PACT (Parents Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia), a charity that provides invaluable support to families going through this emotionally and financially exhausting journey.
Every day, parents and carers of sick children face unimaginable challenges. They put their careers on hold, make countless trips to hospitals, and watch their children undergo harsh treatments. It's a rollercoaster ride that can last for years. But PACT is there every step of the way, offering services and facilities that make this journey a little less painful.
We are determined to make a difference in the lives of these families. Our goal is to raise £5,000 for PACT by the time we complete our walking challenge. We believe that together we can provide much-needed support and bring hope to those who need it most.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast, and secure. Your contribution will go directly to PACT without any hassle or delay. By supporting us in this endeavour, you are not only helping us achieve our fundraising target but also making a lasting impact on the lives of children fighting against cancer.
So please join us on this incredible journey by donating generously today. Together, let's bring smiles to the faces of these brave children and their families.
