In memory of Kiera, I am taking on the Nuclear Rush on 10th May, alongside some of her closest friends and family, to raise money in her honour.
Kiera and I became friends when I moved to her school, Beauchamps. She was one of the kindest, cleverest, and most giving people I’ve ever known. She used to help me cheat on my homework, but she’d always make sure I actually understood what I was struggling with. That was just Kiera—patient, supportive, and always ready to lift others up.
We shared so many special memories together, from our mutual love of The Kooks and all things black to our unforgettable school trip to New York. I still laugh when I think about how we spent hours exploring Macy's and giggling at the weirdness of the Blue Man Group. Kiera’s light, laughter, and generosity were truly one of a kind.
She also had a deeply charitable heart, always giving her time to help others. Kiera volunteered at Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, caring for donkeys and other animals in need. That was who she was—someone who always thought of others before herself, whether they had two legs or four.
Tragically, Kiera took her own life on 28th October. It’s a date that holds immense meaning for me, as it falls the day after my birthday. Every year, as I say goodbye to my birthday, I raise a shot in her honour, knowing she’s smiling down on us and partying with us in spirit. Losing her has left an unfillable void in my life and the lives of so many others, but I try to focus on the beautiful memories we shared and the joy she brought to those around her.
This year, we’re raising money for The Mix, a fantastic charity that supports young people through life’s challenges, including mental health, relationships, homelessness, and more. It’s a cause I know Kiera would have been passionate about, and I’m proud to honour her legacy by helping others in her name.
Please consider donating if you can. Together, we can celebrate Kiera’s life, her kindness, and her unwavering generosity while making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
Thank you so much for your support.
