Story

UPDATE: Beth is joining me! So happy to have someone to cycle with. I’ll get her to add something here soon.

As an NHS midwife, I witness the incredible work of healthcare workers every day. That's why I'm taking on a personal cycling challenge to raise funds for Medecins Sans Frontieres / Doctors Without Borders (MSF), the world's leading medical humanitarian aid organisation.

On November 12th, 2023, I'll be cycling 28 miles from my house in Oxford to the village I grew up in, Brill. It won't be easy - there are some tough inclines along the way and I don’t think I’ve ever cycled so far.

There are an estimated 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza, with more than 180 giving birth every day. Fifteen per cent of them are likely to experience pregnancy or birth-related complications and need additional medical care. I’m cycling for these women, their babies, and the heathcare workers risking their lives to provide care in the most horrific conditions.

MSF provides emergency assistance to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics and natural or man-made disasters, without discrimination and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. They work in over 70 countries and go to the places where others cannot or choose not to go.

I'm asking for your support in reaching my fundraising target. Every donation counts towards providing vital medical care and support for those who need it most. Thank you for your generosity and support.
