Story

**LATEST UPDATE **

23rd August

Liv…

One year ago today I flew to Finland to compete in my first 70.3 World Championships (and third ever triathlon). I would’ve already had ‘Frank Disease’ effecting my red blood cell count, hence the recorded 206 HR during the run. Despite the above I recorded a PB of 5hrs 30min on a tough course - I like tough.

Fast forward one year. Relapsed and refractory AML. I was told 11 weeks ago I have on average 6-8 weeks left to live.

3 hospitals. 2 failed and 2 effective rounds of intense chemotherapy. 1 cancelled stem cell transplants. 1 failed round of immune therapy.

I’m now on a clinical trial at Kings Hospital. Today I received the Gamma Delta T cells. And have negotiated with the help of my friend Darren the most lenient disease % in the country to proceed to transplant.

Often, a willingness to fight is more important than an ability to fight.

2nd August

Olivia was formally discharged from London this morning - heading home for the weekend and hopefully heading back to London Monday (for a clinical trial, this is yet to be confirmed)

The latest round of chemo hasn’t worked cancer is at 61% in the marrow - Olivia was at 42% when originally admitted in November

Without further treatment they have said maybe a couple of months 💔

There are no global options , no additional drugs you can pay for. The treatment Olivia has just received in London was the global option, many Americans on her ward. UCLH is one of the best haematology centres with the best consultants in the world - they were amazing with Livs ❤️

Praying for a miracle and Olivia is accepted onto this trial and that she blows it out of the water ❤️

21st June

Liv- “Yesterday I went to the Christie Hospital in Manchester and was told by their lead haematologist the NHS have no further treatments for my AML and I have on average 6-8 weeks to live. So today I went for a 5 mile run because FUCK CANCER. I’ve got plenty of young blood left in me.”

One of my best friends Olivia Knowles, back home in the UK, recently got diagnosed with Leaukemia AML at the age of 31 in November last year! She has had 3 rounds of intense chemo, and is now due to have a stem cell transplant on Tuesday the 7th of May.

Im running the Sydney half marathon on Sunday the 5th of May and the Sydney full marathon on Sunday the 15th of September, to help raise money for the Anthony Nolan blood cancer charity that help make stem cell transplants happen!

If you could please donate any small amount I’d be so grateful, thank you 🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️

Anthony Nolan’s world-leading stem cell register, groundbreaking cell and gene therapy research and expertise in stem cell transplants means we currently help four patients a day in need of a transplant, giving more people another chance to live. But we know we can, and must, do more. Driven by patients, backed by stem cell donors, powered by science, and with your support, we won’t stop until we’ve uncovered the lifesaving potential of the cells inside us all, and every patient can survive and thrive.
