Hiten and Ushma are going to be dancing (well more like driving) all the way from Rameshwaram in South India to Bhuj in North India, some 3,000 km in total in a TukTuk (Rickshaw)!! This is like driving from London to Barcelona and back! You heard it, we are both taking on this extraordinary challenge to raise funds for Shishukunj, a charity very close to our hearts.

When – 13 December 2024 – 25 December 2024 (ONLY 13 DAYS!!!)

In case you don’t know us here’s a brief intro. Both of us have reached half a century and love travelling. We have both been involved with Shishukunj since our two sons joined (eldest joined over 18 years ago). When we heard about this challenge it did not take a second for us to sign up. You must be thinking we are both out of our minds!! Hey, No Pain, No Gain!

Imagine this, both of us in our respective teams driving a TukTuk on long roads with trucks, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, animals and carts. The route will take us from the scenic southern part of India, known for its green landscapes to the deserts of northern India. We will have music blasting, with the classic Bollywood songs to entertain us along the way. Our teammates/co-drivers will hold on to their seats, their bums bouncing away as they wait their turn to drive. At stops we will stretch, have a cup of chai and pakoras and obviously dance to ease our joints! We have no idea what is in store for us, the unpredictable is challenging.

So you may ask why this challenge?

We believe that children everywhere in the world deserve to have essentials like food, shelter and education. By doing this challenge we will raise awareness and raise funds to support projects under Shishukunj London. We have seen firsthand how these projects have made a positive impact on the lives of under privileged children.

What will you be supporting?

Shishukunj School in Bhuj (Phase 3): Help construct residential facilities for children from low-income families, ensuring an environment conducive to academic excellence.

Shishukunj Education Programme: Support educational initiatives empowering children to break the cycle of poverty.

UK Food Bank Programme: Contribute to providing essential supplies for a better quality of life.

Please help us to raise as much as possible for these causes. Our target is £10,000. Any donations big or small will be graciously accepted. 100% of your donations will go to the above projects. Let's ensure that no child goes hungry or have access to education.
