Story
September 2025
Hello from The Hird family,
We’re still on our journey. Dad is still battling bowel cancer. He had 7 rounds of chemo between November 2024 and January 2025, then bowel surgery in March 2025. He started another round of 6 chemo sessions in August 2025. We still want to raise money and awareness for bowel cancer, and want to help others.
From Jacob and Jessie x
PS - Jessie is running the Worcester City Run (Junior U 15) with her cousin Lola and best friend Ava on Sunday 14 September. They will be handing out awareness cards for bowel cancer and raising more funds via our family page. Please give if you can but if you can’t, please take a look at Bowel Cancer UK web pages and familiarise yourself with the common symptoms. Check your poo, it’s a free health check!
October 2024
Hi I’m Jacob, I will be shaving my head in honour of my dad who recently has been diagnosed with bowel cancer. For the rest of my life I will be working closely with BowelCancerUK to ensure for the foreseeable future bowel cancer can become simpler to cure and more obvious to spot. I love my Dad and I will do anything to make sure no other families will ever go through the same as us. If you know me personally and want to join me with shaving my head please speak to me and you can do it with me. The highest donation I receive will have the honours of doing the hair cut for me!
As a family we will be doing various fundraising activities throughout the year to raise as much money as we can for this cause. So, look out for more updates and activities.
