On October 1st, I will be taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance service. However, after 15 years of supporting my WAA fundraising, l have managed to convince Vicki, my lovely wife, to join me!

This will be a first for us both, neither of us having ran this distance before. We are equal parts excited and terrified!

For me, the reason to run is clear; without the WAA back in 2005, l may not be here and able to run. But for my wife it is different. She is running because she has learnt what this service is all about. She understands how they rely solely on donations and after meeting a number of their staff over the years, knows how passionate they are about the charity they work for. Vicki is running to make a difference to someone, one day, who may just need this service in the future.
