Story
The Macmillan Charity Raceday is the oldest and largest event of its kind in the country and, since its inception 52 years ago, has been responsible for raising over £10 million for people living with cancer.
Held every June, the highlight of the day is the Macmillan Ride of Their Lives, a race that sees 12 amateur jockeys ride down the Knavesmire at the world renowned York racecourse. Each year 25,000 spectators enjoy a day at the races, cheering on these brave riders on as they take on the challenge of their lives.
It is a sad reality that many of us know someone who has lived with or has passed away from cancer. I feel incredibly lucky to have been afforded the opportunity to be part of this amazing cause to raise money for an organisation that provides so much support and love to those families who have been affected by cancer.
I am very fortunate to be supported by trainer James Ferguson in Newmarket who will be providing me with a horse for the big day in June.
I am looking forward to embarking on this daunting, but exciting journey and most importantly hoping to raise a lot of money for a life-changing cause.
I will be riding this race in memory of my father, who died in January this year. I am forever grateful to the Macmillan nurses who were just amazing in supporting both my mother and father.
If you would like to support me take on this challenge, any donations big or small would be hugely appreciated. Please when donating select the 'Gift Aid' box 🙏
Here's to trying not to fall off, a lot of soggy mornings on the heath and death by squats!
Thank you,
