Story
I'm doing what I love, with a fundraising twist for BBC Children in Need. Together we can support children and young people across the UK to rebuild their lives.
Henry's Story
Henry grew up on his family farm near Petersfield in Hampshire. From an early age he had an affinity for farm machinery especially tractors. He purchased his first tractor when he was about 13 years old, finding every opportunity to drive it on the farm.
Every year Henry would watch Children in Need on the TV and think to himself, I could do that, I can fundraise. He was always happy to support his schools fundraising efforts, but at the age of 15 Henry felt he could do more and organised his first tractor run. Unfortunately it wasn’t the success he had hoped for, as only three other tractors took part and Henry wasn’t old enough to drive on the road, so a friend drove his tractor for him.
Unperturbed, the following year at the age of 16, having not long started agricultural college, Henry organised his second Tractor run. And what a success it was. This time fellow Young Farmers and the farming community joined him with tractors and 4x4’s. At least 12 vehicles joined him and in convoy travelled through Petersfield and the surrounding villages to support his fundraising efforts.
And now he’s returned for a third year.
