Story
I'm running the TCS 2025 London Marathon as part of #TeamBowelCancerUK.
In the summer of 2021, my Dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Although he underwent successful surgery, complications arose later that year, nearly costing him his life. My Dad has always been my hero, and the thought of losing him was terrifying. Thankfully, his physical fitness, coupled with the incredible NHS staff, meant he made a full recovery. Today, he is as fit as ever.
I am acutely aware that many families across the UK are not as fortunate as ours, facing the loss of a loved one to bowel cancer. This devastating disease takes countless lives, and I am determined to help change that. By running in the TCS London Marathon, I will be raising money for Bowel Cancer UK to support research and prevention efforts, giving others the chance to keep their loved ones healthy and safe.
Bowel Cancer UK support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
How your donation could help make a difference:
• £10 could deliver an awareness talk
• £25 could provide an hour’s expert nurse support on our Ask the
Nurse service
• £50 could help support policy work to improve bowel screening
By donating today, we can help Bowel Cancer UK achieve their vision of a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer.
