Story
Running a marathon is a lifelong dream which I will fulfil on the 15th of October as I will be running my first Marathon in Budapest in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation. Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours where globally 1,000 people die daily. This is a fantastic charity that is working toward WHO’s Global Roadmap to Defeat Meningitis by 2030 with funds being invested in research, campaigning for vaccines, providing symptom information and supporting those already affected.
I was a county runner whilst I was at school but as point to point riding became my main sport, running took a back seat. I have begun my training in Bristol and Shropshire and using the summer months getting miles into my legs. The Budapest marathon is ideal for first time runners as it is a mainly flat course. As part of the Choose a Challenge team I am excited to join other students from Bristol and Loughborough in Budapest.
I’m really motivated to be able to raise money for such a good cause and I’ll be sharing my training updates with you on this page!
