Story
When I was young I had an operation for my heart and I would like to raise money for the Children's Heart Surgery Fund. I would like the money to be used to help children who were born like me.
I am now 10 years old and I have decided to raise money by cycling 30 miles from York to Selby and back! I have never cycled more than 8 miles before, and I have only done that once! Please donate to help children who need help and surgery as I did.
My ride is planned for Sunday 15 September.
On The Day
On the day, my Daddy and I will take a train from our local station to York with our bikes. We will then cycle from York station along the river Ouse, past York racecourse and out to York college. From here we will cycle along the 'York Solar Path' where there will be scale model of the solar system, starting with the sun, passing all the planets (as well as the Cassini-Huygens and Voyager 1 spacecrafts) all the way out to Pluto which is located at Riccall. I am really looking forward to seeing all the planets and spacecraft. We will then continue along the Sustrans route 62 all the way to Selby Abbey where we will have our packed lunch including a packet of crisps! After lunch we will cycle all the way back to York. We will finish at York Minster at around 3pm. I really hope we are going to make it!
The Charity
The Childen's Heart Surgery Fund provides vital support to children who go through heart surgery (as I did) and their parents. For example £15 pays for each child to receive a teddy bear and medal after surgery. £30 enables a family to stay overnight close to their child in hospital. The fund also helps provide life saving medical equipment, for example £100 provides a kardia mobile device enabling patients to record their heart beat remotely providing essential diagnostic information.
