London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
As many people are aware Oliver was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome in 2023. The condition is a daily battle for him with motor tics so strong that they can lead to falls, often painful and repetitive movements along with vocal tics that are so loud frequent that talking can be a challenge. There are a number of other issues associated with Tourette syndrome including neurodivergence, OCD, dyspraxia etc all socially isolating and impacting on every day life. Robbing him of the basic freedom of going out alone and having a normal childhood.
Tourette syndrome is often perceived as a swearing disease, in reality it is a disabling and painful condition where swearing only affects around 1% of sufferers.
Tourette’s action is a source of support and resources for families dealing with this condition, providing tools for educators to use in schools. Ticfest weekends to allow sufferers and their families to meet others dealing with this condition in a safe and fun space. They provide an invaluable resource for families which is why I am asking you to help me raise funds and support what they do.
