Story
In October 2022, at the age of 52, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. I felt like I’d been pushed off a cliff. I was terrified at the prospect of what the future might hold for me. Like many PwPs who are newly diagnosed I’ve been reading and learning as much as I can to try to deal with the symptoms I’m experiencing. Research shows that intense physical activity can slow the progression of this debilitating illness and, since diagnosis, walking has become my best medicine. Cure Parkinson's are here for the cure. That’s why I’ve been training with my dear friend, Kate, to walk Cheshire’s Sandstone Trail in one day to raise money for them. Cure Parkinson’s is working with urgency to find new treatments to slow, stop and reverse Parkinson’s.Their funding and innovation has redefined the field of Parkinson’s research, enabling the world’s leading researchers to prioritise the next generation of drugs for clinical trial.
