Story
On 1st of January 2011 I was given the most devastating news anyone could be, when my gorgeous son Ben was given a diagnosis of stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma a childhood and teenage cancer.
This was a month before his 18th Birthday on 27th January.
He spent 3 months in hospital the RVI at Newcastle Uopn Tyne receiving treatment, which saw him lose so much weight and all of his hair, but never his sense of humour!
When he finally came home he still needed weekly trips to the RVI for check ups, scans and then had Radiotherapy at the Freeman Hospital.
Sadly all of the treatment, love and attention in the world couldn’t save Ben and I finally had to le5 go of his hand on 7th November 2011.
During this time Young Lives Versus Cancer (Clic Sargent),
Supported the whole family, providing support and so eon3 to talk to along with practical help to not onl6 en but the whole family.
So now in what would have been Bens 30th year I am hoping to complete 30 challenges and fundraising events

I know money is tight but even a few pennies can help make a huge difference 😊
When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.
At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you.
