Story

Last year, when Keith was doing a sponsored walk in aid of The Kirkwood, where we regularly volunteer, I had a heart attack - swiftly followed by a triple heart bypass. That rather spoilt the event.

This year we have joined The Holmfirth Support Group (since that's where we live) and are hoping to raise funds for The Kirkwood, which is our local hospice and more.

Our regular walking is part of my recovery. We aim to do all 74 miles of The Kirklees Way over nine days September 14th - 22nd. It runs around the borders of Kirklees - taking in Hade Edge, Digley Reservoir, the Wessenden Valley. Scammonden, Cowcliffe Hill, across the M62 several times, and the M606 once, Dewsbury, Denby Dale and Hepworth. We'll be up hill. down dale, across at least four golf courses and several streams and rivers. We are committed to 'scout out' the route over the next few weeks. Some bits are impassable, others difficult - much of it is stunningly beautiful.
